Hometown Lighting
Celebrating 10 Years

At Hometown Lighting, the focus has always been to create a lighting plan for the owner, based on their needs and their lifestyle. Lighting adds safety, security, comfort, beauty and drama to a room. And lighting is one less expensive way to remodel and decorate your home at a small cost. When planning your lighting, there are several options to consider:

  1. Ambient or general lighting
  2. Task lighting
  3. Accent lighting.

It is essential to plan for activities in any given room or space. For example, is there reading, food prep, laundry, homework, grooming, etc.?

What is the mood we trying to create? What is the focus and what needs to be emphasized in a room?
Paint, wood and textured surfaces reflect or absorb lighting. Special considerations need to be taken when deciding on light requirements using these materials. Multi-purpose areas need multiple light sources and lighting controlls for the best flexability. Layering different intensitys of lighting is also important to give depth and definition
to a room.

All of our employees are lighting specialists with certification and training thru the american lighting association. Of course we specialize in residential construction and remodeling, but we also offer site lighting, landscape lighting and light commercial products from churches to schools.

We believe that these offerings are what sets us apart from all the other showrooms in the region.

Our experience also comes with a large degree of creativity. Our staff covers every possible aspect for your project, assuring you a pleasant and educational experience. Several clients have told us, “we’ve never had so much information given to us anywhere else we have been. It really helps on making the best decisions for our home.” Paul is assisted by his wife, Susan. She joined the business 8-1/2 years ago. She came in and really helped out as our business grew. It takes a special relationship to have spouses that work together in a business.

Also helping our business is our assistant manager Judy D. Brown. Judy joined us 5-1/2 years ago, coming from an electrical supply company with a showroom from the Christiansburg area of Virginia. She brings 13 years experience with her and is our “go to girl.”

We want to tell everyone that we sell all products at wholesale to everyone. We also pay no comissions, so there are no incentives to sell at higher prices for our employees. And with low overhead and operational costs, we can sell for less than the competition. Price is the driving force out there in today’s economy, but don’t make the mistake of buying cheaper goods. If you have to replace it in a few years, it will cost more later. Quality products add value to your property and help beautify you living space.

Unlike the home center/big box warehouses, we have thousands of products to chose from, not just the few you see on display in those stores. For example, most ceiling fans in the home centers have less powerful motors that cost a little less, but a homeowner can end up with future noise, low air circulation and higher operating temperatures than the better quality showroom fans. Plus heavy duty motor windings and greater blade pitch options add performance, making showroom fans your best value.

Some of the 50-something brands we sell are Progress, Kichler, Regency Fan, Hunter Fan, Broan-Nutone, Lutron Dimmers, Hanover Lantern and more.

We sell all catagories of lighting fixtures, ceiling fans, dimmers, central vaccum systems, medicine cabinets, mirrors, light bulbs, lamps and lamp shades.

Our hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and after hours and Saturday by appointment for consultations and product selection assistance.
