This year’s event was graciously hosted at Wheatland in Loretto, VA. The historic venue is located on a bend overlooking the Rappahannock River in Upper Essex County. It has one of the few surviving steamboat wharves in the Chesapeake watershed. Over the past 11 years, the RCC Preakness Party has provided more than $600,000 in support of the work of RCC Educational Foundation. Attendance at the event helps support student success, academic courses, community continuing education, faculty/staff professional development, and scholarships. RCC’s service region covers 12 counties on both the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
The mission of RCC is to provide access to high quality educational experiences for members of its community, preparing them for success as learners, employees, and citizens of the 21st century. The Preakness Party is truly a college and community event, where many volunteers and RCC friends merge their efforts for a lovely occasion supporting an excellent purpose.
