2012 Wine on the Water/Arts in the Park

Wine on the Water / Art in the Park inspires a region to come together in support of the Tappahannock Regional Free Clinic and the Tappahannock Artists’ Guild. Event Directors, Michael Faulkner and Barb Francis, collaboratively engage individual and local businesses in supporting these two valuable non-profit organizations that receive no Federal funding through the creation and execution of five magical evenings filled with live music, DJ mixes, wine tastings, beer tastings, original works of art, food, fun and more. Beginning Friday, June 1, 2012, and continuing on the first Friday of July, August, September and ending the first Friday of October with a Sunset Cruise aboard the Captain Thomas, Wine on the Water / Art in the Park 2012 will once again prove to be one of the “must attend “ events of the region.

Located in historic Tappahannock, Wine on the Water / Art in the Park is held on the grounds of Atkins Petroleum Park at 101 Prince Street. Atkins graciously donates their lovely park, situated on the Rappahannock River, to the Free Clinic and the Guild. Among those contributing to the success of the event through their donations are Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, Clements Tent Rentals, Millers Greenhouses, All About Wine, Barbour Printing, W.C. Lowery, Crying Shame Frame & Gift Gallery, Pugh Distributing, June Parker Oil & Marina, Revere Gas, Hobbs Hole Restaurant, Roma Italian Restaurant, Lowery’s Restaurant, Lowes, Bella’s Pizza, Los Portales, and Subway, along with an extensive list of VIP Host Members.

The signature 2012 series will feature the return of award winning acoustic guitar player – Mr. Robert Keyes, the jamming steel drum sounds of Pan Jan, and other local musicians. The Tappahannock Artists’ Guild will hold juried art competitions for members, with attending guests serving as judges. Also, member artists will offer to the public a collection of their original works along with limited edition prints.

Wine on the Water / Art in the Park showcases wines, beers, artisan cheeses and distinct breads from various regions around the globe. Deborah Stevens and Karen Hayes, the owners of All About Wine located in Tappahannock, serve an important role in providing guidance and professional service, ensuring that the quality wines and beers selected are diverse and rich in both structure and taste. Deborah and Karen personally make themselves available during the event for those interested in enhancing their knowledge of both wine and beer.

All event attendees receive a 2012 custom Wine on the Water / Art in the Park wine or beer glass with the price of
admission (return next month with your glass and receive $5.00 off the price of admission). Admission to the event is $10.00 per person and includes individual tasting selections of either wine or beer as well as cheese/bread/fruit samplings along with musical and visual entertainment. Additional glasses of select choices of wine and beer are available for purchase.

All profits generated through this event assist in providing the Tappahannock Regional Free Clinic with the necessary
resources to ensure continued healthcare to thousands of uninsured residents residing in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck regions of Virginia. In 2011, the Tappahannock Regional Free Clinic provided almost 1.5 million dollars worth of free service, on a budget of less than one hundred thousand dollars.

All art sale proceeds go directly to support the Tappahannock Artists’ Guild and their mission to create art for the community and a community for artists. The Guild builds and educates the community through the arts and culture while promoting local artists and their art and fulfills cultural opportunities by sharing common traditions and lifestyles.
